Are Your Goals Worthy of You? Chapter 8

Chapter 8 - Are you worthy of your goals? The most powerful revelation that changed everything for me came when my coach said I'd need to leave behind 50-80% of who I am to achieve my biggest aspirations.

This revelation forms the foundation of true goal setting. If your goal doesn't simultaneously excite and terrify you, it's not big enough. If you already know exactly how to achieve it, it's merely a task, not a transformative goal.

You simply cannot reach extraordinary destinations from your current state of being. Instead of working toward your goal, try coming from your goal—embodying the future self who has already achieved it.

The internal voices that keep us trapped in mediocrity are relentless: "What if I fail?" "Who am I to want more?" "I don't have enough experience." Feel the fear and act anyway. Discomfort isn't just normal on the path to achievement—it's necessary. As you get comfortable being uncomfortable, extraordinary things happen.

Focus on getting just 1% better each day, and soon you'll need a telescope to see the person you once were.

Join me next week when we'll discuss finding the right brokerage and partners to accelerate your real estate success. What version of yourself are you ready to become?

Speaker 1:

Are you worthy of your goals, and that's what I want to talk about today. You know, it hit me differently this year when my coach said to me that you're going to need to leave behind 50 to 80% of who you are in order to hit your big goal. Now, have you set a goal that's worthy of you, meaning one that both excites and terrifies you? You see, you have no idea how it's going to happen, you just want it and you want to make it happen. Now, this is an actual goal. Now, if you know how to get to your goal, or if you've done it before, it's not a good goal. You see, reaching the goal, a worthy goal, is the side effect. It's who you become in the process. That's the true win. You will not get to where you want to be from who you are today. You will not get to where you want to be from who you are today. Again, you will not get to where you want to go from who you are today. You will need to create a new version of yourself, a version that makes much of who you are today obsolete. Now stick with me. Let's say you had nine transactions or sales last year and your goal is now 25 transactions or more, with the same habits, beliefs, self-image, attitude, and standards and disciplines you have. So what are you going to do differently and what would it look like if you came from your goal instead of working to or towards your goal? What does the version of you who sells 25 or more do? What time do they get up? What training are they taking? What do they fuel their bodies with and how much do they exercise? How do they invest in themselves? What does their bank account look like? What calls are they making? That keeps the current version of you stuck? What does their calendar look like? What excuses are they no longer accepting? What rooms are they in? What are they saying no to? Who do they surround themselves with? What conversations are they having? What boundaries are in place to get it done, and who are their coaches and mentors?

Speaker 1:

Stop letting the voices inside of your head keep you stuck. The ones that say what if I mess up? What if they say no? What will those people say I don't know what to do. Who am I to insert limiting belief? That won't really work. What I have is good enough. Who am I to think I deserve or want more? I don't really need that. They will never hire me. I don't know what I'm doing, I don't have enough experience. Feel the fear and do it anyway Now. Does your goal expand you or does it contract you? How do you feel it should expand and excite you? This is a huge clue to follow your intuition and take a chance, the next step. You don't need to see the top of the staircase, you just need to take the first step and the next will follow. And if you aren't uncomfortable, nothing changes. It's getting comfortable, being uncomfortable that allows for greatness to happen.

Speaker 1:

You will not achieve your goals if they are big goals, from where and who you are today. So let me ask you what 50 to 80% of how you show up today are you going to replace with a bigger version of yourself? Focus on competing with yourself in beating yesterday's best and you will win. Get 1% better every day by beating your personal best. If you do this, you will need a telescope to look back and see who you once were. That's what Bob Proctor told me, and it's so true. And if I can do it, you can do it, and that's a promise I can and will make. So take action.

Speaker 1:

The action step for this lesson is to set a goal that you want and desire. You should not know how it's going to happen. If you know how to achieve it, it's not a big enough goal. So think about that. The only prerequisite is for you to have the desire or the want. The how will show up. The how is really none of your business. So set your goal and come from your goal. What does that version of you look like? Who's congratulating you? Who's waiting at that 25 deals and what are they saying? Who's clapping for you? Who's in your corner? Think about it from that point of view and I promise you, if you show up every day and take action as if you have already sold the 25 and you take action and motivation, set your standards, create your disciplines from that place, you will win.

Speaker 1:

You can take action and start today. It's a beautiful thing and I can't wait to hear the stories of the successes. So come back, leave a comment. Small wins start with small wins. Every day. 1% better, you will change, change so much by the end of the year. Think about a plane. If it was 1%, off course, it would end up in a completely different place. And that's you too. 1% better every day and you will change the whole trajectory of your life and of your goal. So meet me back here next week, because we're going to align with the bright brokerage and partners for you and your real estate career, and I can't wait to see you back here. Enjoy, go sell something and have a great day. No-transcript.
